Can't get sound from DVB transport streams

Hello world, 

I am using this week's MPlayer to decode TV from a DVB-T card, but
although the player detects the DVB transport stream, I invariably get

 ...NO AUDIO! NO SUBS (yet)!

(There *is* sound in the stream; I can play it with other players, but I
want MPlayer for its no-nonsense interface.) This happens whether I
tune directly from the card or replay a saved transport stream. Do I
have to enable something special during compiling to decode MPEG2 audio?
