, it should work fine with udev (i use it myself).

I have the following added to udev rules :

dice@moon:~$ cat /etc/udev/rules.d/mga_vid.rules
KERNEL="mga_vid", NAME="%k", MODE="0660", GROUP="video"

 > > vo_mga: Couldn't open /dev/mga_vid

Vít, could you send the output of 'ls -l /dev/mga_vid'?
