Problem with proxies and playlists

I've been trying a proxy with mplayer and noticed that if a playlist
is used then the proxy is ignored.
This works:
mplayer http_proxy://192.168.1.2:33000/http://bbcmedia.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbcmedia_radio4extra_mf_q
This doesn't:
mplayer -playlist http_proxy://192.168.1.2:33000/http://open.live.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/5/select/version/2.0/mediaset/http-icy-aac-lc-a/format/pls/vpid/bbc_radio_three.pls
Is there any way around this?
