Hi Alexander,

the visual impression is that of a red-shift, all colors look a little 
more red on PNG than on the MPlayer output.

Here's a side-by-side PNG screen-print. With a color picker you can see 
on the left the PNG with max. red~230 and on the right the MPlayer 
output with max. red = 255.

The movies are created with "TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 7", with 
these settings:


H.264/AVC
Color Profile >
YUV Format: 4:2:0
Color Range: Compressed (16-235)
Color Depth: 8 Bit
Color Space: Automatic (ITU-R BT.709)


It seems as if on the MPlayer display output the compressed color range 
is uncompressed correctly, on the PNG the scaler used seems to display 
the still compressed color range.
