We are already using suitable messages for such cases:

-        res_comment="requires internal FFmpeg"
+        test "$ffmpeg_a" = no && res_comment="dynamic linking to libxml2 is irrelevant when using dynamic FFmpeg"

I also suggest:

-int main() {
+int main(void) {
