I was able to build it without any problems today, as well.

It's too new.

Mine is binutils-2.43-549.1.x86_64.

I thought that gcc-15 might be too new, but I was able to build it
with gcc-15, which I had just installed the day before yesterday.

So I think the solution is to downgrade binutils.
