[Debian] removal of mplayer-gui (due to gtk2 removal)

Hello,

Debian is in the final steps to remove gtk2 from its archives; as a
consequence it will be no longer possible to build gmplayer with the
official Debian package.
Is there any intention to port the gui to gtk3?
(I see that Ingo did a lot of work on the gui last year but it's not
clear if that was just bug fixing or a preparation to switch to gtk3)
