Mplayer 1.5 Compile on Ubuntu 24 Fails

Hello,

I'm trying to compile mplayer 1.5 (latest shown for downloads on the
mplayer site).
Compile fails with:

CC libavformat/adtsenc.o
./libavcodec/x86/mathops.h: Assembler messages:
./libavcodec/x86/mathops.h:125: Error: operand type mismatch for `shr'

Has anyone found a fix?
