I'd guess this it caused by us not handling VOBU still mode.

Could you describe how these are handle in a comercial DVD player 
(or consumer / settop box player)?  I.e. do they have a timeout, a 
button (even an invisible one) that you can press to continue, does
'>>|' continue, does 'play' / '>' continue?  
If there are several images in sequence, can you go back one image somehow?
