libdvdread 64-bit clean?

Hi. I just tried to watch my newly bought set of "Homicide: Life on the  
street" and ran into some issues... I couldn't get the first episode to  
play at all, and the second one aborts after 29:37, with an error  
message saying something like "Couldn't read encrypted content. Are you  
using libdvdcss2?"

This is on an AMD64 Turion laptop, running Ubuntu Breezy. A 32-bit  
laptop with identical versions of the relevant packages plays the DVD  
without problems, which leads me to believe that it may have something  
to do with 64-bit cleanliness. The player I'm using to run this is  
totem, with xine as a backend (I've also tried ogle, but it segfaults  
pretty soon after starting...). If I run totem with DVDCSS_VERBOSE=2,  
it reports the following error when it reaches the 29:37 mark:

libdvdcss error: seek error
libdvdread: Can't seek to block 2097152
libdvdnav: Using dvdnav version 1.0.1 from http://xine.sf.net
libdvdread: Using libdvdcss version 1.2.9 for DVD access
[...]

I've also tried using DVDCSS_METHOD=disc, which fails in a different  
way: right from the start, the graphics are just garbled crap, with the  
occasional frame being correct.

I've tried messing with the region settings of my drive, which didn't  
help. I also noticed that the error message complains about block  
2097152, which is exactly 2^21 - I don't know if this means anything.

Do you think that libdvdread may be at fault here, and if so, do you  
have any idea what the problem might be? Please let me know if you need  
any more info.
