Disabling sound

Is it possible to disable sound so that Ogle does not attempt to
access an audio device?

Here is some background. I am using Ogle 0.8.2-11 with Ogle GUI
0.8.2-6. These are the versions that come with Debian Woody 3.0r1,
which I have just installed on a new PC.

The PC's motherboard has a built-in sound card. Since this card is not
supported by the Linux kernel, I will have to get a new one.

In the meantime, I would like to play some visually intensive DVDs,
for which I am in no hurry to listen to audio (in case you are
wondering, they are the Apollo DVDs by Spacecraft Films; and yes, they
do have very nice multi-angle scenes, such as Saturn Vs liftoffs--real
rocket science :)

The problem with the Ogle version I have is that, just after opening
the disc, video playback is started for a few seconds, and then the
program dies (i.e. the playback window disappears) with the error:

  Debug[ogle_ctrl]: Started /usr/lib/ogle/ogle_a52 with pid 1036
  Debug[ogle_vout]: set_sync_point()
  opening a 2 channel audio driver
  Can not open /dev/audio
  FATAL[ogle_a52]: Can not open audio output

I have tried fiddling with ~/.oglerc, e.g. by setting the audio device
to /dev/null, but without success. And the audio select button in the
is not always reliable. Is there a command line switch for disabling
audio access?
