From that I'd conclude that you do not have the correct version of
libdvdread installed (or the one how built the RPM did not).
(I.e. if you use SRPMS that would be you.  Perhaps you have missmatched
libdvdread.so and dvdread header files.)

A user aplication should not be able to do such a thing, so I'd guess this

S/PDIF support in general by the audio drivers is a bit dodgy.
Make sure you also changed the ALSA device name to an apropriate S/PDIF
enabled one.
