AMD64 ogle-gui configure script fails to find libdvdcontrol.so

I'm running a dual Opteron 240 on an K8T800 based mother board.

System is running Mandrake 9.2 AMD64 release candidate 1.

I've got ogle to compile from source tar ball. Once all dependencies were in
place, it compiled first time. It plays encrypted DVDs perfectly using xv
and alsa out of the box, I didn't need to do any configuration. First time
I've tried ogle, and am VERY impressed. :)

Anyway, when I try to run the configure script for the gui application, it
fails to find libdvdcontrol.so. I've read through the FAQ which lists the
solution to this problem as upgrading binutils, however I'm running binutils
2.14. I've checked, and the library is in /usr/local/lib/ogle/ as it should
be. Tried specifying the directory with --with-dvdcontrol argument with same
result. The library appears to be intact and all the version sym links seem
ok.

I can take a look at the configure script myself if needed, but I was hoping
someone would be able to tell me I was doing something stupid, or at least
point me in the rough direction of the problem. Any help greatly
appreciated!

The other thing I noticed is that the ogle configure script switched off mmx
optimisation. I assume this is the configure script not knowing about amd64
and thus not knowing it can #define in some inline assembly. To be honest,
opterons don't really strugle with mpeg2 decoding, even non-mmx optimised
decoding. :)

Versions:
gcc = 3.3.1
glibc = 2.3.2
binutils = 2.14
kernel = 2.4.22
Xfree86=4.3

Cheers,

Tom
