can not use XV output ?!?

hello there, it seems like I cant use the Xv output, even tho I have the nvidia drivers installed flr my GeForce card..
and the hwacc works fine with like quake3, so the drivers works...

what happens is that when regardless the OGLE_USE_XV variable is set to 1 or not set at all, I get a black window.. 
if it is set to 0, i get a window with picture fine.

I have set up my xorg.conf file for tv-out, if that matters....
