also a few private email exchanges.
At least two of the three SCSI drives, DVD-burners and
pioneer-drives have been involved in all cases.

But... 1) make sure libdvdcss is installed.
2) make sure that you have premission to write to the
drives device node (I think this is necessary).
3) try disabling the key caching in libdvdcss
