How about make libdvdread (and ogle?) use pkgconfig in their next release?
Otherwise, maybe check how mplayer detects it, as it seems it got it right
for me without any special changes I can remember :

$ rpm -q --requires mplayer | grep dvdread
libdvdread.so.3()(64bit)
