Are those garbage characters ! and # ? They tell that frames are dropped.

Make sure that you have dma turned on for the dvddrive.
Running 'ogle --check' should give some info about the dvd device and dma state

Post the ogle.log file from
'ogle --debug >& ogle.log'
here so we can se what could be the problem with the audio.
