I have since tried your sugestions to no avail and ended up making such
a mess (along with a few other 'interesting' projects), that I desided
to re-install my OS and start again fresh.

so this time for ogle I have run the folowing through #rpm -ivh# in
this order with no problems at that stage.::

a52dec-0.7.4-7.1.fc2.fr.i386.rpm
alsa-lib-1.0.3a-2.i386.rpm
glib-1.2.10-12.1.1.i386.rpm
gtk+-1.2.10-29.1.1.i386.rpm
libdvdcss-1.2.8-4.1.fc2.fr.i386.rpm
libdvdread-0.9.4-5.1.fc2.fr.i386.rpm
libglade2-2.3.6-1.i386.rpm
libmad-0.15.1b-3.1.fc2.fr.i386.rpm
ogle-0.9.2-3.1.fc2.fr.i386.rpm
ogle_gui-0.9.2-3.1.fc2.fr.i386.rpm
xvattr-1.3-4.1.fc2.fr.i386.rpm

trying to use it was interesting tho'

There doesn't seem to be problems with sound for any other programs and
it is a 2.6.etc kernal so there is ALSA support...

anyhow, i'm sorry to be a bother over this, I hope this is enough info
for you to figure out what it is up to.

thankyou ever so
