I think that's the wrong direction.
It needs a simple build system. Not simple as in "it does everything =
automatically", but simple as in "you don't need special tools , and =
everybody understands the used tools".
Which leaves basically handwritten Makefiles, which ideally would be =
well commented.

The license:
what about OS's which don't have dynamic linking, but only static =
linking ?
The plain GPL/LGPL has a problem.
