I never used the PVM stuff and don't know how it works exactly. But I=20
think the way one can do cluster stuff today is sufficient: splitting=20
the stream (logically) into independent chunks and process chunks on=20
different nodes sharing the storage via NFS. Later merge the transcoded
chunks back into one target file.

Unfortunataly this works just for VOB streams (probably with AVI files -
never tested it) with separate navigation index files created with=20
transcode. As well there are A/V sync issues, depending on the material,
in particular with NTSC variable framerate streams.

So I think improving transcodes navigation/splitting and A/V sync=20
capabilities would be more worth than adding PVM stuff again, since it=20
would be useful in single and cluster mode.
