Hi,

in 1.1.x the lavf support is absent :)
It was introduced (as well as for the ogg support) during the early
beginnings of the 1.2.x development cycle.

It's still a work in progress, though.

1.1.x has not substantial advantage. The leap ahead will happen with
1.2.x.
