This dvb input source should supply an mpeg2 transport stream
(TS), that transcode can't deal with (AFAIK). You should demux
this stream with projectX (I dunno details about this toot, but it's
reporteed to be the standard TS tool). 

When you remux the stream as mpeg2 program stream (PS) transcode can
handle it. Probably mplayer has some kind of TS support and you can
work on the stream using mplayer/mencoder directly.
