soften clipping crackle

If you listen to the first 30 seconds of  http://blip.tv/file/2232410
you hear some annoying crackle that I believe is caused by the a2d
hardware clipping.  I just checked the .dv file and it occurs there
too.   the right thing to do is not feed in such a strong signal, but
for this file, I am wondering what can be done to make it better.

Any suggestions?
