error at 99+% using dvdrip

hi,

i'm using dvdrip on ubuntu 9.04 to rip the film, "angel-a".  i own the 
dvd, just trying to get an .avi so that i can watch it on my laptop / 
media player.

i get to 99+% and it stops.  one last thread stops (in multi-core mode) 
or the entire process stops (in single-PSU mode).  either way, i can't 
finish ripping it.

i'm absolutely current on maint for all components, and i've ripped 
other copy-protected stuff with no problems.

if anyone has any ideas, i'd really appreciate it.
