Tvtime No Audio

This might be OT and if so I appologise I have been trying many
different OS distros to get tvtime to work with audio
and as yet no joy :(

I have tried Ubuntu 9.10 , Debian 5.0.4 and now MythUbuntu 9.10
I have an HVR-1800 card. 
It has 3 input connectors marked Analog/FM , Analog/Cable and Digital

Even though my provider (brighthouse) says I'm paying for digital TV
I can not get digital to work only analog Cable
I connect direct to the cable with a TV and via a Set Top Box to
received HD channels numbers 1000+

I can get a good picture with TVtime, but no audio whatsoever,
any advice at all?
