I think it would be good if you have a capture system directly to 
Matroska (no problems with dropped frames as in AVI) from either 
video-in, tuner or DV. Similar to what you can do with VDub but a bit 
better.

Another idea would be to post a thread in a few forums (Doom9, VD) to 
ask all the features people can think of for a good editor. Then we'll 
pick the most important ones we want.
