Hi

I was playing with VDub source and i've added a new
command line  
option: /n

Basically this option make 2 things:

- For every encode write a simple log file, every line
indicates if the 
frame was encoded as a keyframe and the size in bytes
of the frame, 
something like this:

1 54883
0 4544
0 4399
0 5094
0 2313
...

- When you select to save the Avi, the frames are
actually encoded but 
NOT written in the final Avi (this will result in a
non usable but very 
little Avi of course)


This enable me to predict the size for basically every
encode (using an 
AviSynth script with SelectRangeEvery and discarding
artificial 
keyframes+oversized b-frames)
So i can make a compressibility test that is
indipendent from the log 
file generated by the codec, but more: i can predict
size for quality 
based encodes & for credits segments encoded at fixed
quant.

I'm testing the method with VDub (i've some problems
compiling VDubMod, 
i think i need the Platform DDK... but is not more
available for 
download on Microsoft site).

I'm asking you if it would be possible to add this
option in VDubMod, 
so i don't need to publish my new VDub and keep it
sincronized with the 
new official release (and of course it save a lot of
bandwidth on my 
site). Of course, i'll send you all the modifications
in the source code 
after finishing my tests.
