Hi folks, hi Cyrius, please allow me to point you here : http://mcf.sourceforge.net/docbook/spec.html Its Steve's latest version of the specs docs, but content should be unchanged compared to the old specs made by Lasse. I am not sure if the current libmcf is capable to be implemented into Vdubmod yet. Steve created tools called mpa2mcf.exe and wav2mcf.exe based on existing libmcf, and myFUN was using the same library to make his Dshow parser. Currently there are no COM interfaces working in the parser as libmcf doesnt report file length/duration properly. Spyder, on the contrary, was not using libmcf for his MCF4JAVA, but redid the complete old MCF specs in pure Java, so we have a brilliant test platform to x-check the two implementations. It seems that the API to read/write data from/to libmcf wont change, or not much, this is why we decided to make and test first tools based on current version of libmcf, but i am not sure if it could be used from an editing app like Vdub, even just as an early alpha version to be able to test files. One important thing : If you are successful in creating such an alpha version, please dont distribute the binaries ! Leave the code in the CVS ( for devs that can compile themselves its ok with me ), but dont give the binaries to users, by no means !! There will be huge changes in libmcf itself, so even if we can create tools with current libmcf as the API wont change much, the files created with this libmcf will be completely incompatible to MCF-1 spec files !! We can think of giving it to a limited number of alpha testers though, to test it. Thanks again for your interest in supporting MCF and UCI .... i am convinced we can lay an important foundation for the future of opensource video and audio encoding ! -- Christian Sites : http://mcf.sourceforge.net http://sf.net/projects/mcf MCF mailing lists : news://news.gmane.org gmane.comp.video.mcf.general gmane.comp.video.mcf.devel gmane.comp.video.mcf.mplayer gmane.comp.video.mcf.announce gmane.comp.video.mcf.mpc Soon : www.corecodec.com ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by: To learn the basics of securing your web site with SSL, click here to get a FREE TRIAL of a Thawte Server Certificate: http://www.gothawte.com/rd524.html
