Audio compression/conversion

Hi, I’m taking videos with my photographic camera (avi’s) and since my DVD 
player don’t play them, I’ve compressed through VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.2 with 
Xvid MPEG-4 codec. Resulted avi is played ok but without sound. I figured 
out that maybe problem is audio in PCM format, so I wanted to convert it to 
some other. But when I hit right mouse button in the Streams window, neither 
compression nor conversion are available options. Could you help me in any 
way?
