FFmpeg will do a good job for your purpose ( => avi, mov, mpg, mp4, m4v,
mjpeg, dv, etc.)

Subject: Native library for linux video

Hello,

I use v4l2 to capture video frames from a capture device and I need
generate a movie file (avi, mpg, etc). Is there a native library in
linux to do it? ¿I need to install a extern library (ffmpeg, gstreamer,
etc)?

Thanks. Carlos.
