Dear VideoLAN users,

This Wednesday, the so-called "Month of Apple Bugs" published a
security vulnerability in VLC media player 0.8.6 down to 0.7.0, which
can lead to arbitrary code execution. The issue was filed as Security
Advisory 0701.

VLC media player 0.8.6a solves this problem and improves the
usability of the Fullscreen Controller on Mac OS X. We strongly
recommend all users to update to this new version.

You can download VLC from here:
      http://www.videolan.org/vlc

Packages are already available for Windows and Mac OS X.
Other binary packages (SuSE and Fedora Core RPM, BeOS) should follow
soon.

For detailed technical information, please have a look at the
Security Advisory:
      http://www.videolan.org/sa0701.html

Remember to reset your preferences if you experience problems after
upgrading from a previous version.
