help to create configure

I am trying to create configure script for downloaded code from 
subversion. Using FC6.
Get errors:
configure.ac:7: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE
       If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow.
       See the Autoconf documentation.
configure.ac:8: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_CONFIG_HEADER
configure.ac:15: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_PROG_LIBTOOL
configure.ac:62: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_CONDITIONAL
