ripped dvd doesn't play audio

Happy new year!  I hope it's a great year for you and yours.

 

I have VLC media player 1.1.11 on Windows 7 64 bit and it rips video, but
not with the audio.  I have experimented with different combinations in the
Preferences menu, but can't get it to play any audio.  It took 2 hours to
rip this video, which is about 2 hours long, so I suspect it ripped the
audio as well as the video data.

 

Can you tell me how to get it playing audio?
