VLC 2.0.4 Problem

OS 10.7.5 VLC 2.0.4 I have stayed with VLC 1.1.10. I felt that it was time to upgrade so I did, I installed VLC 2.0.4 set up as a slender object that I put at the bottom of the screen i.e., no Playlist. This works fine for .mp3, however, .flv files are another thing. FLV files play fine until they end and then the entire screen is filled with a full screen VLC playlist. Clicking ||| has mo effect in this case. What have I done wrong?
