RTP issue

I am using VLC for streaming server.

when I am using VLC 1.1.13 version my set up works fine.

but when VLC 2.0.7 is used, then its not working fine.

I am observed that when mp4 file with H264/aac is streamed using rtsp(sdp)
then payload type is same for audio and video( 96 in both audio /video)
which is creating issue.

in VLC 1.1.13 its different ( 96 for audio, 97 for video).

can these payloads be same for different media?

any pointer will be really helpful.
