   We prefer to serve files over HTTP rather than FTP because it uses
slightly less bandwidth, and lets us easily gather download statistics.

   You may be suggesting this change because you experienced trouble
downloading vlc, but that was only a glitch that appeared this night
on the web server. It should be fixed now.
