Questions about setting up a video server

Hi,

My application consists of 4 video cameras (usb) the images of which (one=
 of=20
them, selected by the user) should be displayed on the client connected v=
ia=20
the internet.

I have no experience in this, although I can work with linux and windows,=
 and=20
program a bit. My idea is to setup a linux (or windows) web server with a=
=20
broadband connection (256 or 512 upload speed), and this will be serving =
the=20
clients that will connect to it.=20

One of the aspects I would like to consider is what size of images, and h=
ow=20
many frames per second, should I be sending to the clients. As above, eac=
h=20
client will be watching only one source in normal size, or perhaps, all=20
sources in a 1/4 screen size for each.

I would appreciate receiving any information/suggestion or links to where=
 I=20
can read more about it, and perhaps get a starting point. For a start I h=
ave=20
the following:
1. windows machine with windows 2000 server
1. linux mandrake server
1. usb logitech web camera
