In redhat linux 8.0, Is there a compile or debug tools to debug vls?

In redhat linux 8.0, Is there a good compile or debug tools to debug vls? I wonder that weather there is a tool like microsoft visual c++ in linux, and can debug vls.
can vls be debug in kdevelop 2.0 in redhat linux 8.0? I test it,but vls can not opened as a project in kdevelop in linux. Which tools can be used to open vls as a project?
Every time I use "configure,make,make install" comand to compile vls. but I can't debug it in linux's command-line interface.I wish you can give me a good advice or a good tool.
