Hi Mathieu,
   VLC will automatically time out if it doesn't receive any media  
for ten seconds. I guess your streaming server (VLS?) buffers data  
for more than 10 seconds before it sends it to the client. Decrease  
this buffer size may be to 2 seconds and try. I do not know if there  
is an option on the player to wait for more time. Hope this is helpful.
