Hi all,

I have a problem that seems to have been asked around the place a bit. I
have a DV input coming from a studio mixer that is PAL 720x576i but 16:9
DAR. VLC seems oblivious to this and transcodes and streams it as-is in
4:3 ratio. On a client VLC, if I choose the aspect ratio as 16:9 (or
--aspect-ratio 16:9), it looks perfect, but I can't choose this server-side.

I've tried squishing the video by adding transcode width and height
(tried width=720,height=400 for a roughly 16:9 ratio), but VLC refuses
to stretch the video out of aspect. It ignores either the width or the
height to maintain the video square.

The production streaming server is running VLC 0.8.6, but on 0.9.4 on my
desktop (both Linux) the result is the same.

Any ideas?

Neil
