New xine-lib Release
====================

xine-lib 1-rc3 is a maintenance release: Lots of bugs have been fixed,
most of the code has been reviewed and cleaned up, and many little
details are improved.
Compared to 1-rc2, you'll probably notice

 * much smoother subtitles
 * smaller startup delay
 * improved stability

You'll find the complete ChangeLog at the end of this message.
If you want to check the integrity of your tarball, use this MD5 sum:

New Web Server
==============

While downloading, you may notice that we have a new webserver, which is
kindly sponsored and hosted by Rackcheck[1]. Both the new hardware and its
network connectivity should provide for more reliable and faster service
than what we could offer with the old setup hosted by the project
administrator[2].
Moreover, this platform allows us to offer more goodies (collecting GPG
signatures of released files, for example, but there's much more to come!).


Call For Help
=============

We are currently preparing for our 1.0 stable release. Yes, we have been for
over a year, now, but at the moment we're getting close. This also involves
introducing more formal testing and release procedures and updating lots of
documentation, including the web site. If you can spend any time to help us
with one of these tasks, or if you are able to test a particular feature of
xine, please email <[email protected]>! A more detailed request for
help will be sent out soon.
