Impossible.

At least from the crypto standpoint:
* since DRM clients need to authenticate themselves against the content
  provider, they need to posess a secret credential
* since it is impossible (without hardware support like TPMs) to
  securely store a credential in user-controlled space in the client
  machine, the credential has to be something secret in the software
  itself
* therefore the system (and all other current DRM systems) is inherently
  closed-source
