MVI1 and MVI2

This devel group is my last effort to achieve my goals. I am seeking to support the MVI1 and MVI2 codecs using xine (MVI2 mainly, MVI1 was for games). See http://www.moviecd.com for more info or go to http://www.fourcc.org.


I have purchased several MovieCDs and would like to view them in linux. I have tried all of the following:
(I run Suse 9.0 x86).

1) Install Wine .rpm for suse 90 and install video player.
2) Install CrossXover plugin 1.2.1 and install video player and Microsoft media player.
3) Install CrossXover plugin 2.0.2 and install video player and Microsoft media player.
4) Modify entire xine lib source code and re-compile.

I gave up on number four when I realised that just adding the .dlls to the w32codec folder and adding some entries was not enough. Apparently you have to write a whole new decoder for the avdecode folder.

None of the other methods worked either. The video player does not create any registry entires or associations as it is mostly a fallback to win3.1 (though the website has win95 and nt40 viewers), however, on a real windows installation you can use media player to view the movie files as the codec is usable, but not in a wine installation or CrossXover. CrossXover expects some sort of mime-type assocation to plug a codec in.

I am at my wits end. All I want to do is watch 'Ghost in the Shell' and other anime titles.
If anyone is up to the task, I can give you all of the files you will need. I'll even burn the CDs and send you a copy.

Anyone game for this?
