I consolidated the previous emails into 1 list, I'd be more than happy
to maintain it, and though i haven't gone the the mplayer file, if
there's some sort of consensus that it'll get used i will go through
it. I've been looking for a list like this for a while so I'm somewhat
interested in keeping it up to date.
1) .swf files with video/radio links in them.
2) dvd audio , The implementation would apparently consist of:
* CPPM, DRM similar in concept to DVD video CSS
* Meridian Lossless Packing, the audio coding algorithm
3) Quicktime side:
* QDesign audio v1 & v2 (QDMC & QDM2)
* Qualcomm PureVoice (Qclp)
* ZyGo video (ZyGo), only known to occur in one file (Partially
RE"d in
ffmpeg (ffzygo), it"s a scrambled
H.263)
* Apple Lossless
4) Microsoft side:
* WMV8: one feature ("j-frames") not completely RE"d yet
* WMV9
* WMA3
* WMA2 also have some implementation errors, there are unplayable
samples
* Windows Media Voice (wmaspdmo.dll, format 0x10)
* Windows screen codec (MSS1)
* Microsoft Lossless Format
* Microsoft asf over rtsp (there are some docs)
5) On2 side:
* VP4
* VP5
* VP6 et al. (VP60, VP61, VP62)
* On2 audio codec, AVC (Audio for Video Codec)
6) Real side:
* sipr
* Cook (RA8, afaik work in progress on it)
* ATRAC
* RV30 (H.263 based)
* RV40
* cook5.1
* lossless
7) 3ivx
* 3IV2 supported by ffmpeg
* 3IV1 is a broken MPEG4 codec, can be decoded with ffmpeg if
enabled a
quirk in the sourcecode (it"s disabled in default coz the
slowdown)
8) Intel Indeo 2.x
9) Intel Indeo 4.x
10) Intel Indeo 5.x
11) Motion Pixels v1 & v2 (MVI1 & MVI2)
12) TechSmith (TSCC)
13) Intel Indeo Audio 2
14) Woxware
15) truespeech
16) truecast 7 (i don"t think it"s supported yet)
17) The game/fringe side:
* Eidos" Escape codec, used in Tomb Raider games and others
* KMVC, used in the Worms family of games
* Xxan, Origin codec that I *will* finish figuring out one day
* Oh, and there is also RadGameTools" Smacker and Bink technologies
that
would be desirable, especially since there are literally hundreds of
games
out there that use them. It is worth noting that RGT is still
interested
in sticking up for this IP as evidenced by them telling the Media
Player
Classic developers that they were not allowed to interface to their
DLLs
to play .smk and .bik files.
18)CD+G discs and MP3+G files
*Some information about that format(s) in RFE 708006
