You guess wrong.  Microsoft's port of DX/VFW to Solaris is pretty poor, 
which is to say, non-existent.

Despite MS's propaganda, it's quite possible to run an MS-free 
infrastructure, and Sun does.  The vast majority of servers are Solaris 
based, with the few remainders being Linux.  Most desktops are Sunrays (ie. 
cheap graphical terminals), backended onto Solaris servers.  The one time 
you do find MS OS's is on the older laptops, although JDS and MacOSX are 
both rapidly replacing it across the company.  Recommending any 
infrastructure containing MS Windows is pretty much a reputation- and 
career-ending decision at Sun (and rightly so!)

Disclaimer: used to work for Sun.  Don't anymore.  Still admire the fact 
that as a result of the above, they run one of the most capable networks 
and IT infrastructures I have ever seen in any company.
