I thought that things had gone a little too well with xine-lib 1.2.5. Turns out that we're NOT actually using libav10's libavformat due to a version check failure – we look for 55.19.0 but its version is 55.12.0, and there are other... subtle differences. Debian uses libav. Consequently, xine-lib being properly useable with libav is important to me as a package maintainer; and in that context, I don't care about compiling against ffmpeg; and if it comes to a choice between the two upstream, I'll choose libav on the grounds that it's less hassle for me. Basically, in this case, Petri Hintukainen should have checked the avio plugin against libav, and I should have caught that it didn't work (isn't being compiled). On the bright side, since this causes new functionality to be missing, it isn't actually a regression! -- | _ | Darren Salt, using Debian GNU/Linux (and Android) | ( ) | | X | ASCII Ribbon campaign against HTML e-mail | / \ | http://www.asciiribbon.org/ If a listener nods his head when you're explaining your program, wake him up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Learn Graph Databases - Download FREE O'Reilly Book "Graph Databases" is the definitive new guide to graph databases and their applications.
