Just a comment :-)

In the past, I noticed that sending a translation (Spanish) via a text
attachment to an email did not work well, because mail software at any
stage can transform the received text can be adapted to the local
definition of text at that machine, destroying crucial information for
us like accents. Thus I had to send as compressed files which all email
software treats as binary.

Maybe it doesn't apply in your case because your attachment goes as
base64 encoding.
