How to make xine buffer more decoded pictures?

Hi,

I tried playing with the engine.buffers.video_num_buffers and
engine.buffers.video_num_frames paramteres, but I haven't really succeeded.

Motivation: The pc I am using is on average fast enough to decode hd content.
(in this case a trailer coded in h264) but there are peaks where picture
begins to stutter. As I have enough RAM, I would like xine to have a buffer
of several seconds of picture data to be able to play back stutter-free even
in peak situations. As an RGB pic in full HD takes about 6MB of mem, thus, 1
second of data about 180MB in worst case with 30fps, I don't mind if xine
uses x GB just for buffering. I don't mind latency, as well, as usually I
just watch a file and don't care too much for seeking.

So how do I have to tune xine to achive this? I wasn't really able to make
xine consume loads of mem.

Cheers,
