Hi,

I hope this is the right list for my issue. I could find no other place to
post bug reports.

I'm using xine on a PC with Via Epia EN12000EG mainboard. Whenever I use the
xine engine, the computer freezes totally. If I select "Stereo 2.0" the sound
stutters for about 1 second, then mutes and the computer is totally
unresponsible. Can't even ssh in. If "Passthrough" is selected, the sound
continues in a loop of about 200ms after the freeze.
Sometimes the freeze occures directly after hitting the play button, sometimes
the music plays fine for several hours before the freeze occures (though this
does not happen often).

I have no problems regarding freezes when using other audio engines (such as
Helix).

The freezes occure both with the builtin via soundcard, and with an M-Audio
Transit usb soundcard, and both with amarok and kaffeine (though amarok is
generally "faster" in freezing my PC, but, as I have said, works well with
Helix engine).

I have tried compiling alsa into the kernel (both as module and compiled in,
tried different kernels, starting at about 2.6.20), and also tried to compile
the alsa modules which are downloadable from alsa (tried 1.0.15, 1.0.16 and
svn build).

Here are my specs:
xine-lib: tried 1.1.8, 1.1.10,  1.1.10.1 and earlier versions.

Mainboard: Via Epia EN12000EG
CPU:

CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
CFLAGS="-O2 -march=i686 -msse -msse2 -msse3 -mmmx -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"

If you need more information, please tell me.
Any help and suggestions appreciated!

Yours, Marius
