So, I did try, seperately, the use of 

--with-logo-format=image and --with-logo-format=mpeg

The attached bzipped tarball contains 4 files:
config.log-with-logo-format=mpeg
configure.out-with-logo-format=mpeg
config.log-with-logo-format=image
configure.out-with-logo-format=image

config.log. (I had intended to say "run 'sh -x configure'...)

It's probably also worth trying (separately, of course)
--with-logo-format=image and --with-logo-format=mpeg.
